The word Cherubim is the plural.  The word Cherub or Cherubim means awesome, frightening creatures or spirits.  Isn’t it amazing that stores portray them as fat babies with tiny wings?  These are frightening creatures. Let’s talk about Cherubs.  Ezekiel 10 describes Cherubim.

“The cherubim appeared to have the form of a man’s hand under their wings.  Then I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like the gleam of a Tarshish stone.  As for their appearance, all four of them had the same likeness, as if one wheel were within another wheel.  When they moved, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went; but they followed in the direction which they faced, without turning as they went.  Their whole body, their backs, their hands, their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes all around, the wheels belonging to all four of them.  The wheels were called in my hearing, the whirling wheels.  And each one had four faces.  The first face was the face of a cherub; the second face was the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.” Ezekiel 10:8-14 (NASB)

Each of the angels mentioned here has four wings, four faces, and hands.  They also have wheels, so imagine a huge wheelchair, but instead of a seat, they are standing in the middle.  So, they have wheels on both sides of them, they have eyeballs all around, they have different faces, but Cherubim have four wings, and they have hands. These are burning, and potentially to some, frightening creatures.

I want you to picture this, a basketball player wearing a headband or someone else wearing a headband.  Now, picture these angels, human face, eagle face, all these different faces, and they have a headband, but their headband is a bunch of eyeballs.  They can see in 360 degrees.   When was the last time you saw a six-winged angel with a headband full of eyeballs when you went to buy an angel?  Or when was the last time you saw an angel with the face of a calf or a man or an eagle or a lion?
